Struggling to communicate with your partner? Having difficulty working through conflict or a break in trust? Feeling disconnected? So much of what happens during communication gets lost. We at times hear what the other is saying but not truly understanding its meaning.

I utilize a trauma and attachment- informed approach with my couples called Emotion Focused Therapy. This therapy focuses on developing emotional intelligence and awareness by guiding clients in recognizing and expressing their emotional needs more effectively. By fostering better emotional bonds, it enables clients to respond to their partners in healthier, more constructive ways.

Sessions are both culture and trauma informed, focusing on applying decolonized, evidence-based psychotherapeutic approaches that understand the impact of generational trauma, historical experiences with discrimination, poverty, abuse, the value of cultural traditions, and cultural self-identity.

Cascade Psychotherapy acknowledges that we live and practice on the traditional lands of the Anishinabek, which includes the Ojibwa of Fort William First Nation, signatory to the Robinson-Superior Treaty of 1850 and Métis nation. As settlers, we would like to say Miigwech for allowing us to gather here. We are dedicated to practicing in a way that honours the Indigenous culture and people. As a non-Indigenous organization, Cascade Psychotherapy continues to seek out cultural guidance and teachings to help us live and practice in a good way.

“YOU are imperfect, you are wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging".
